Sentinel · QC Review

Catch it before it goes to the next step

QC Review is the part of Sentinel you can put to work directly. It reads a report the moment it arrives, checks it against the rules you set, and shows what’s wrong while there’s still time to fix it — instead of after somebody downstream sends it back.

How it works

Five steps, and only one of them needs a person

The review is the same on every report, in the same order, with the same rules — which is the part a human review can never quite promise.

01

Write the rules once

Your team defines the checks in a rule set, in plain language. Nothing about a report’s layout has to be described first.

02

A report lands

The review starts on upload and runs in the background. Nobody has to remember to trigger it, and nothing sits in a queue waiting for a reviewer to be free.

03

The document gets read

Every rule in the set is applied to what the report actually says — across the form, the addenda and the attachments, whatever shape they came in.

04

Results come back per rule

Each check resolves to Pass, Fail or Inconclusive, with the reasoning behind the call and any comments attached to it.

05

It gets fixed, or explained

Blocking items are cleared with a revised report or an acknowledgment. Only then does the report move to the next step.

What comes back

Three answers, and only one of them lets the report move

Every rule resolves to a status of its own, with the reasoning attached. A single blocking item holds the whole report — which is the point.

2 items are blocking. Fix them in a revised report, or acknowledge each one with an explanation.
Pass

The rule held.

Nothing to do. When every rule passes, the report moves on without anybody opening it — which is what most reports do.

Fail

The rule didn’t hold, and we can show you where.

Blocking. The report pauses, the assigned users are emailed, and the finding comes with the reasoning and the comments behind it rather than a bare error code.

Inconclusive

We couldn’t confidently find what the rule asks for.

Also blocking, on purpose. A review that guesses when it can’t read something is worse than one that says so, so an unreadable answer gets a human rather than a coin flip.

Two ways to clear a blocking item. Upload a revised report, or acknowledge the finding with an explanation that points the reviewer at the supporting information. Nothing moves forward until every blocking item has had one or the other.

Your rules

The review is yours to define

There’s no fixed checklist to adopt. You write the rules your team already argues about in revision emails — against any form and any document — and QC Review applies them to every report the same way, every time.

Conditions decide when a rule applies
Scope a rule by order type, product or state, so a Texas requirement never fires on a California order and nobody maintains four near-identical checklists.
Requirements written in natural language
Describe what the report has to contain the way you’d say it out loud — “include three high-quality photos of the kitchen”. No scripting language, no field-mapping project first.
Every requirement carries its own message
You write what the vendor sees when it fails, so a finding arrives as an instruction they can act on rather than a rule ID they have to decode.
Photos get read too, when it matters
Mark a requirement as needing photo analysis and the review looks at the images, not just the text around them. Draft mode holds a new rule back until you’re ready for it to bite.

Write three rules. Upload a report. See the result.

A demo of QC Review is coming soon. You’ll write up to three rules of your own right here, run a report against exactly those rules, and see what comes back — the same statuses and the same reasoning as a live review.

Appraisers & inspectors

QC Review comes with your Dwelling Blocks account at no cost. Wherever the lender has turned it on for the report type you’re working on, it runs on your report automatically — nothing to buy, nothing to switch on, no separate login. You upload the way you always have and see the findings before the report goes anywhere.

  • Included with your Dwelling Blocks account — never an add-on
  • Runs on upload wherever the lender has enabled it
  • Problems surface before submission, not as a revision request a week later

Lenders & companies

QC Review is its own application: your rule sets, your reports, your results. Run it across the work you already place, stand it up on its own for an internal QC desk, or call it from the systems you already have.

  • Inside the platform, on every report you place
  • On its own, against your own documents and standards
  • Over the API, from your LOS, ordering platform or product

Why it matters

A revision request is a week nobody gets back

Every blocking item caught here is a round trip that never happens — no revision email, no second upload days later, no loan waiting on a photo somebody forgot. The review costs seconds. The alternative costs a week, and it lands on whoever is closest to the borrower.
